Our initial work centred around providing technical expertise in programme design, monitoring and evaluation to Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). Over the years, our portfolio has evolved and grown to encompass broader technical assistance assignments in health and social sectors, working with a variety of government departments, NGOs, and businesses.
Our core areas of focus fall into three workstreams:
1. Training and Capacity Building
We draw on our team’s expertise and practical field experiences to build the institutional and technical capacity of organisations to deliver quality, impactful and sustainable programmes. Our standard training modules include resource mobilisation (grant writing and fundraising strategies), programme cycle management, monitoring and evaluation, organisational capacity assessment and development and strategic planning. In addition, we offer bespoke training in a range of technical thematic areas tailored to address gaps identified through structured assessments of our client’s training needs.
2. Program Design and Quality Improvement
Designing the right solutions to complex challenges that face the world today require in-depth understanding of the context, robust evidence base, and strong partnerships with funders, implementors and beneficiaries. Working closely with our clients and the local communities they serve, we co-design lasting solutions by applying context-specific knowledge and investing considerable thought in technical appropriateness of the strategies we devise. We support our clients to come up with evidence-based programmes that are anchored on rigorous research and problem analysis, and that build on success from approaches and strategies that have worked elsewhere. During programme implementation we provide technical assistance to our clients in designing and implementing quality improvement models, including review of performance data, workflow mapping, quality audits, and change actions through a Plan Do Study Act (PDSA) cycle approach.
3. Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL)
We believe that systematic, intentional, and well-resourced MERL systems are the cornerstone of adaptive, transformative, and effective programming. Hence, we dedicate significant focus to supporting our clients to build strong MERL systems that include processes, tools and skills for data capture, analytics, and use for decision making and accountability. We also provide our clients with external third-party services in conducting baseline assessments, evaluations, and surveys. Our research and evaluation experts have extensive experience in applying robust methods and tools to generate quality data and rigorous evidence to feed into policy and programmatic decisions. We leverage technology and innovation such as web-based tools, mobile applications, and geospatial data techniques to optimise data quality, timely availability, and reliability.
